Our reception children have been enjoying making the most of our outdoor learning environment! There have been lots of opportunities to explore, investigate, build, create and, most importantly, have fun with our friends.
The children have loved exploring water, pouring, filling, splashing and experimenting with different containers. Through their play, they have been developing their understanding of capacity while using lots of new vocabulary to describe what they notice.
Our budding builders have been busy constructing with a range of resources. They have been developing their problem-solving skills, learning how to balance and join materials, and working together to create their own structures.
The children have particularly enjoyed playing in our pop-up Aldi! Through role play, they have been developing their imagination, communication and language skills as they took on different roles, such as shoppers and shopkeepers. They have been practising making choices and interacting with their friends.
Our outdoor provision has also provided lots of opportunities to strengthen those little fingers! The children have been practising their fine motor skills through a variety of hands-on activities, helping to develop the control and coordination needed for writing and other everyday tasks.
Most importantly, the children have enjoyed spending time with their friends. They have been learning to share resources, take turns, negotiate ideas and work together. It has been wonderful to see their confidence, independence and communication developing through their play.
We are so proud of how our reception children are using the outdoor environment to explore, discover, problem-solve and learn together.
