Our first text of the term is Beowulf, an exciting Anglo-Saxon epic poem. Through our exploration of the text, we are discovering the key features of Anglo-Saxon literature and developing our understanding of how characters, settings and events are described.
We have been exploring expanded noun phrases and using sensory language to create vivid and detailed descriptions. We are also thinking about the role of a hero, exploring what makes a character heroic and how heroes and villains are presented within a story.
Using what we have learned from Beowulf, we will be creating our own hero-versus-villain narratives, developing characters, settings and exciting plotlines while applying the language features we have been learning.
