Last week, we went on an exciting visit to Belfairs Wood in Leigh-on-Sea. We travelled by coach and were so excited to see lots of horses and cows from the window on the way. It made the journey feel just as special as the destination.
When we arrived, we met the rangers Emma, Katie and Vicky, who looked after us all day. They helped us to explore the woods safely and taught us many interesting facts about the natural world around us. Throughout the day, we had lots of fun learning outdoors and discovering new things together.
We examined the shape of different leaves and felt the textures of the bark on a variety of trees. It was fascinating to notice how different each tree could be. In the meadow, we went bug hunting and learnt how to observe insects carefully without hurting them. This helped us to understand how to treat living things with respect.
We also explored what happens to seeds in the forest and created our own plant pictures using natural resources we found on the ground. In addition, we played a great game with Emma, where we had to collect everything seeds need to grow in the woods: water, soil, sunlight and air. We had to be very careful not to get eaten by the cheeky squirrel!
We enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch in the meadow with all our friends and teachers. It was an exciting day, and we were all so busy that by the time it was time to leave, most of us fell asleep on the way home.
