Over the last few weeks, the children have been learning all about the Vikings. They explored where the Vikings came from, why they travelled to Britain, and what they did once they arrived. They also discovered that the Vikings didn’t just come to the UK — they journeyed to places like Ireland and even as far as America. In particular, they learned that Dublin, although not part of the UK, was founded by the Vikings and became one of the most important Viking cities in the British Isles. Through their studies, the children found out that the Vikings were not only fierce warriors but also skilled creators, traders, explorers, settlers, and innovators. To finish off their learning, the children created informative posters showcasing the many achievements of the Viking people.
