Year 4 linked their Science topic of electricity to their English learning by beginning to write a balanced argument titled Should we use less electricity? The children learnt that when writing a balanced argument their paragraph needs to include a clear point, an explanation, and the effect. They explored reasons for and against using less electricity and worked collaboratively to match point, explain and effect statements. Using this structure, they then wrote their own paragraph to practise the skill. Next week, the children will draft their full balanced argument before editing and publishing their final piece.
