Last week, we celebrated Maths Week and thought carefully about how mathematics is part of our everyday lives at home. We explored many practical ways in which we use maths, including counting the tins in our cupboard, working out how many more pieces of cutlery we would need, measuring ingredients for cooking, measuring space for furniture, and telling the time.

We also investigated how tally charts and pictograms can help us learn more about our friends and families. It was exciting to collect information and then organise it so that we could spot patterns and compare our findings.

We ended the week with a delightful workshop, during which we guided our families around a selection of maths activities. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our learning, demonstrate our confidence, and celebrate the many ways in which maths can be both useful and enjoyable.
