This term, Year 6 have been learning a Soul song called ‘Do what you want to’. The children learnt that Soul music is a popular musical style, developed by African American musicians in the 1950s.

What is the Song About?
Have you ever felt hurt by what someone said or did to you? The singer remembers a time when a friend upset them, but they are now ready to make peace, as they recognise how important the friendship is. The singer wants to be friends, but it is up to the friend to ‘do what you want to’.

Using the glockenspiels and keyboards, the children improvised their own instrumentals to accompany the backing track. You can see just how well they got on below!
