This week in Year 4, the children continued to practise making a C major chord and played known songs such as ‘A sailor went to sea’ and ‘Row, row, row your boat’.
They then learnt how to finger pick open strings to play along with ‘Stringalong Rag’ which is in the style of a piano rag by African American composer Scott Joplin. Ragtime music was an early form of Jazz music at the beginning of the 20th Century. They also learnt how to finger pick open strings with famous nursery rhyme ‘Starlight, starbright’.
Next week we will start learning our next chord – A minor.
