“When can we come back?”

This question, asked by one of our students within a minute of the curtains closing, summed up our fantastic day when we went to Barking’s Broadway Theatre to watch Cinderella.

The anticipation had been high before the trip, which started in our previous article “Shining a light on the shadows” where the children participated in a shadow puppet performance which was a prelude to our theatre trip.

The week before the trip, we watched some pantomimes to give our group an indication of what to expect.  The day before our trip the children prepared their own popcorn for the event.

   Preparing popcorn.

Learning never stopped on the way to the theatre with the children asking the English words for different places and trying to read the bus stop names on the bus’s digital display.

On the 368 bus to Barking.

We were the first group to arrive at the theatre and were given prime seats in the front row.  All our pupils were thoroughly engaged throughout and joined in with the “boos” and “cheers” from the audience.

Waiting patiently for the show to begin.

The show was amazing, great performances and songs that everyone could sing along to was only enhanced by having the best seats in the house.  I feel I will also be asking “When can we come back?”

Best seats in the house!
