On Tuesday this week, some of the classes went on a school trip to the Gruffalo Trail, found at Thorndon Country Park in Essex.
We had two coaches to help get children, staff, and many parent helpers to the trail and the children were so well behaved and really enjoyed taking a coach, looking out the windows and watching cars and lorries drive past them.
When we got to the park, we stopped for a toilet break and a snack. Then, we headed off in our groups to follow the path of the Gruffalo trail. One group started at the beginning, whereas the other group started at the end, working backwards. This way, it gave the two groups time at the trail to to take pictures with the characters, and complete some short activities whilst at each station.
The children did incredibly well throughout the walk, cutting in through the trees, walking along the trail path, and climbing on logs that were laid across the floor. Parents were so incredibly patient with the class and the children, whilst supporting their own children along the path.
We stopped for some lunch mid way through the day; the sun was out and it was beautiful weather, and then children were given some time to run around within the space we had to enjoy some free time. Once lunch was finished, each group went off to do some different activities; one group went off to finish the trail, another group went back to the Gruffalo and finished heir activities, and another group went searching for dens in the woods that had built to sit in.
Eventually, the time came to make our way back to school. We hopped on the buses and got back just in time for the end of the school day.
We would like to thank all the parent helpers for coming along to support their child. We hope you enjoyed your day out with us, and we really could not have done it without your help, so another massive thank you!
Another thank you to the staff who came along to support too, taking time out of their day to do so. Again, without that extra help from so many of you, the trip would not have been possible!
