This week, Year 5 had an amazing day out at the Tower of London to support our learning about the Tudors. The children were full of excitement and enjoyed seeing real places linked to the stories we’ve been exploring in class.

One of the biggest highlights was seeing the Crown Jewels. The children were amazed by the sparkling crowns and treasures on display. We also explored the White Tower, learning about what life was like there many years ago.

We visited the spot where Anne Boleyn was executed, which helped the children understand more about Henry VIII and his wives. They were sensible and respectful as we discussed this part of history.

The children also enjoyed meeting the Tower’s famous ravens, and loved hearing the story that the Tower must always keep them or the kingdom will fall!

One of the most exciting parts of the day was taking part in a role-play workshop led by a member of staff dressed as Catherine Parr, Henry VIII’s sixth wife. The children had great fun acting out the stories of Henry’s wives and learning more about Tudor life in a creative, memorable way.

The Year 5 team were very proud of how well the children behaved, how enthusiastically they joined in. They asked brilliant questions and represented the school beautifully.
