This week, Our formal class attended a school trip with the Year 3 children to the London Mithraeum; a Roman temple founded in London back in 1954. It was originally built to worship  the ancient god Mithras. It is linked to their learning of the Romans in their foundation topics, and were invited to attend the trip by Year 3.

They started by taking the train into London. Here the children were sensible and careful of the train. Then, they arrived and got off at Bank Underground station and walked to the museum from there. The children were excited about being up London, some even having their parents attend to help with the trip, which was nice for those children.

During their time there, the children found out that worshippers of Mithras were very secretive and they only let men join the temple. They had the opportunity to explore the temple, see artefacts and hear a ceremony conducted in Latin.

We would finally like to thank those parents who came on the trip to support us on the day. We hope that you enjoyed your day out with your children. If you are interested in future trips, please do let us know via email or calling Karen.
