This Week in Nursery Our Book of the Week is Owl Babies again. The children have been acting out and retelling the story, helping them to develop their language skills, confidence, and understanding of the story sequence.

In phonics, our focus sound is g, and we have been practising the rhyme “One, two, buckle my shoe” to support listening skills, rhythm, and early sound awareness.

In maths, we have been counting and recognising numbers, using practical activities and games to support number recognition and early counting skills.

We have also be taking part in our regular sessions:

Beat Babies – a music and movement activity that helps children develop rhythm, listening skills, coordination, and early musical awareness.

Dough Disco – a fun, hands-on activity using playdough and music to strengthen fine motor skills needed for writing.

Bucket Time – a focused attention session where children watch and explore engaging objects, supporting attention, anticipation, and communication skills.

Putty Therapy – using Thera putty to squeeze, stretch, and manipulate, helping to build hand strength and fine motor control.

These activities support the children’s overall development while keeping learning fun and engaging.
