This week, the children have been learning the sound ‘y’ in phonics. They have been working hard to sound out individual letters and blend them together to begin reading simple words. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they start to recognise sounds and put them into practice.

Alongside our phonics work, the children have also been focusing on writing their names. Through a variety of fun activities, they have been developing their fine motor skills, which play an important role in learning to write. From using tweezers to picking up small objects, to drawing and tracing, these tasks are helping to strengthen the muscles in their hands and fingers laying the foundation for confident, independent writing.

We are so proud of their progress!
