We are excited to share that a brand-new Maths Reasoning Club has started at lunchtimes for some our Year 6 children.

We are beginning with a small group this half term, and different children will be invited to take part after the October break so that more Year 6 pupils can enjoy the opportunity.

The aim of the club is simple: to make maths fun while developing an important skill—reasoning. Reasoning is all about explaining our thinking, spotting patterns, and finding different ways to solve problems. It’s not just about getting the answer, but about showing how we got there.

Each week, the club gathers to tackle puzzles, play strategy games, and take on team challenges. From number riddles to logic games, the activities are designed to get everyone thinking deeply, discussing ideas, and working together.

Children have already shown fantastic enthusiasm and creativity in their approaches. They are proving that maths is more than worksheets and textbooks—it’s about curiosity, problem-solving, and having fun while learning.

By starting with Year 6, we hope the club will inspire pupils to become confident mathematicians, ready to take these skills with them into secondary school and beyond.
