This week, as every other week in our classes, we have been messy playing and getting our hands and fingers, literally, into paint to make butterfly pictures for our Art sessions. The children needed to press their hands into different colours on a plate, then press their hand onto the picture of the butterfly to create the wing’s patterns. They looked fantastic and the children really enjoyed this activity. Their pictures came out really well. Take a look below at some examples of this being completed by the children.

Other children have been looking at our caterpillar’s that we have been looking after this week. They have gotten much bigger in size and are now slowly beginning to form in their cocoons. However, the caterpillar to butterfly stage is, in fact, known as the chrysalis stage. Some of our caterpillar’s are currently at this stage already, and, once they break out in their butterfly forms, we will transport them to the butterfly enclosure and store them there. Our children have been excited to see the caterpillar’s, are can’t wait to see the butterflies.

Take a look at the pictures below to see the children getting messy in their art classes and observing the caterpillars.
