It has been another busy week in Year 4.

In RE we have been learning about the different religions and worldviews represented within our community. This week, we focused on how different religions help and make a positive impact in the community. To support this learning, we were delighted to welcome two special visitors this week, Rev Ray and Imam Bodrul Hussain. The children were eager to ask thoughtful questions and listened carefully and respectfully to the answers, helping them to deepen their understanding of beliefs and traditions within our local community.

In History, we continued to learn about the Anglo-Saxons, considering why Alfred was known as Alfred the Great. The children also learned about bias and how historical sources can reflect particular viewpoints, as well as exploring why Anglo-Saxon rule came to an end and who the claimants to the English throne were.

In English, the children were excited to read Beowulf and will be drawing inspiration from it to write their own “defeat the monster” narratives. We look forward to seeing the imaginative stories they create.
