This week, reception children learnt all about ‘Diwali’ celebrations – the festival of lights celebrated by many, all around the world. All the children got to know how Diwali is celebrated. Children enjoyed listening to the story of Rama and Sita, which explains the tradition about how people began celebrating Diwali. They have learnt that Hindus begin their Diwali celebrations by doing special prayers, ‘puja’, and at night celebrate Diwali with lots of fireworks display. They also share traditional sweets, their homes are lit brightly with diyas and Rangoli patterns, welcoming one and all at the entrance of their homes.
Children also read the book, ‘Binny’s Diwali’. The story is all about a little girl, ‘Binny’ and her excitement to share with her classmates, her news about the celebration of her favourite festival, ‘Diwali- Festival of Lights’. In the beginning, Binny struggles to express herself, but soon she gathers her courage with her teacher’s encouragement and is able to share her experience about Diwali celebrations.
Today we will be having a half-term break, and as this is the last day of our Term-Autumn 1, we, the Reception Staff, wish all the parents and students a very relaxing half-term break. It has been a very busy term for both, the Staff as well as Reception children. We are very proud of all our reception children for having settled down well in their daily routines. All the children have learnt something new every day and have engaged in many wonderful activities in this term.
Wishing all of you a very enjoyable and relaxing holidays!
