This month, Year 4 have been learning all about Black History Month. We explored the incredible lives of Sarah Forbes Bonetta and Henry ‘Box’ Brown, two inspiring figures who showed courage, resilience, and strength.

The children carried out their own research into Sarah Forbes Bonetta’s life — did you know her real name was Omoba Aina? They were fascinated to discover how she became connected to Queen Victoria and her remarkable journey from West Africa to England.

We also learned about Henry ‘Box’ Brown, who showed extraordinary bravery in his quest for freedom.

Take a look at some of the wonderful pictures below to see the activities and creative work our pupils completed to celebrate Black History Month.
