In some of our classes this week, we have been looking at making octopus paper plates in Art, linking to our topic of ‘Seaside’, whilst our Formal class went to Belfairs National Park in Leigh-on-Sea last Friday.

With the octopus paper plates, the children enjoyed making faces and threading the legs onto the plates by using string with beads at the bottom, to help make the legs heavier and therefore hang better when played with. All the children were engaged with the activity and seemed to really enjoy the task.

The Formal class had a long day out at Belfairs Park with the Year 1’s. They are learning the same book, currently, and therefor joined up to take the day out to the park. The children thoroughly enjoyed it, they spent some time in the forest, picking up leaves, searching for bugs and trenching through some long grass.

Take a look at the pictures below for the trip and artistic designs.
