This week, Year 5 took their learning to the next level with an exciting and immersive Geography lesson all about Greece!
As part of our current topic, the children have been exploring Greek culture, and this week they had the opportunity to experience it through one of the most enjoyable ways possible — food! The classroom was filled with excitement as the children sampled a range of traditional Greek foods.
We encouraged the children to think like food critics by discussing the flavour, texture and overall experience of each dish. There were some fantastic discussions, with pupils using rich vocabulary to describe what they tasted — from tangy and salty to soft and crunchy.
Each child then rated the foods out of ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and wrote thoughtful comments to explain their reasoning. It was wonderful to see them combining their Geography learning with their writing skills in such an engaging way.
The lesson was full of curiosity, laughter and a real sense of adventure. It gave the children a small but memorable insight into everyday life in Greece and helped bring our topic to life in a meaningful way.
