Welcome Back
We are pleased to report that the children have made an excellent start to the new term. This half term, our history focus is on The Anglo-Saxons. Pupils will be learning about who the Anglo-Saxons were, where they originated, what their homes were like, the significance of Sutton Hoo, the spread of Christianity, and the role of Alfred the Great.
In English, our writing has been linked to this topic through an exploration of crime and punishment during the Anglo-Saxon period. The children found the range of punishments particularly striking and agreed that they were extremely severe. Many commented that they would have been very careful to avoid committing any crime had they lived during that time. We will go on to read Beowulf, one of the oldest surviving epic poems in English literature, which will provide a rich insight into the values, beliefs, and storytelling traditions of the Anglo-Saxon world.
We look forward to an engaging and productive term ahead, filled with exciting opportunities for learning and discovery
