It has taken the children a little while to get to grips with their chores and duties this week, but they are finally realising the importance of these life skills! They are now well equipped at sweeping floors, washing and drying dishes, wiping tables, serving food, and laying tables with care and teamwork. Parents — please take note of these newly found skills, which we are sure will continue once they’re home!
Today brought another brilliant day of adventure here in beautiful Trewern. Groups 1 and 3 spent the day climbing and taking part in bushcraft, showing fantastic determination and teamwork throughout. From lighting their own fires to tackling tricky shelter building, the children demonstrated great focus, courage, and resilience.
Groups 2 and 4 had a slightly wetter day, heading off for tunnelling and gorge walking. The weather took a bit of a turn — quite the shock after the sunshine we’ve been enjoying — but the children adapted brilliantly, embracing the challenge with laughter and plenty of splashing about. Whether working their way through dark tunnels or ducking under waterfalls, their bravery and sense of adventure were incredible to see.
After a long and exciting day, we were treated to a delicious curry for dinner — a real hit with everyone! The children then enjoyed a trip to the Tuck Shop, where they stocked up on a few souvenirs and treats before finishing the evening with a surprise birthday cake for one of our group. It was the perfect way to round off another wonderful day together.
Tomorrow, we’ll be up before the birds for breakfast, a quick room inspection, and some last-minute packing before we hit the road home to East London. We’ll definitely miss the fields, the mountains, and the fresh Welsh air — though we’re not sure our suitcases (or our shoes) will miss the mud quite as much!
