Our Reception children have been on an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the much-loved story Whatever Next! – and what an exciting journey it has been! From the moment Baby Bear zoomed off to the moon, our classroom was filled with curiosity, imagination and plenty of space-themed fun.

Indoors, the children became brilliant engineers, building their own rockets using a range of materials and learning how to make them strong enough for space travel. They explored the dark, experimented with light, and discovered fascinating facts about the moon, stars and planets in our solar system. Role play areas transformed into space stations, where astronauts prepared for missions and packed everything they might need for a trip beyond Earth.

The adventure didn’t stop there! Outdoors, the children blasted off on imaginary journeys, visiting the moon, counting stars, and exploring planets through movement, games and teamwork. There was lots of exciting talk, new vocabulary, and wonderful creativity as the children shared their ideas and discoveries.

It has been a joy to see such enthusiasm, teamwork and imagination as our Reception children explored space together. Who knows… we might just have some future astronauts among us! 🌍🚀🌟
