This week our Reception classroom was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed our fantastic parents to join us for a morning of phonics fun! It was wonderful to see so many of you take time out of your day to come and explore how we learn to read and blend sounds in class.
During the session, parents had the chance to join in with a range of playful phonics activities, everything from sound hunts and blending games to silly songs and speedy-sound challenges. The children absolutely loved showing off their skills and sharing their favourite activities with you!
We also held a short Phonics Talk, where we explained how reading is taught in Reception, what the children have been learning so far, and simple ways you can support at home. Thank you for listening, asking great questions, and getting involved so enthusiastically.
💡 How You Can Help at Home
Here are a few reminders from the session:
Practise recognising letter sounds
Play quick oral blending games on the go – e.g. “Put on your c-oa-t”
Share books daily and talk about pictures, characters, and new words
