As part of our RE learning about Baptism, Year 1 enjoyed a lovely visit to St Albans Church.

We were warmly welcomed by Reverend Faye Bailey, who taught us about the importance of baptism to Christians and explained the three special symbols associated with baptism.

We then had the opportunity to explore the church and look at some of its beautiful features. We were particularly fascinated by the colourful stained glass windows and learnt how they were used to tell Bible stories at a time when many people could not read or write.

We also discovered the baptismal font near the entrance of the church and looked closely at its detailed carvings. It was wonderful to see where baptisms take place and make connections with what we have been learning in our RE lessons.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity to bring our learning to life and develop our understanding of Christian beliefs and traditions.

Ask your child if they can remember the three symbols of baptism!
