This week in Maths, Year 5 have been developing their understanding of angles. We have been learning how to measure and draw angles accurately using a protractor – a skill that many of the children found quite challenging at first!

The children have worked hard to learn how to line up their protractors carefully, read the correct scale and measure angles precisely. They have also practised drawing their own angles with increasing accuracy and confidence.

Alongside this, we have been learning the names and properties of different types of angles, including:

acute angles
right angles
obtuse angles
straight angles
reflex angles
The children have shown great perseverance and resilience while tackling this tricky new learning.

Why not ask your child to spot different angles around your home or when out and about? They may even be able to teach you how to use a protractor!
