This week in reception, we continued reading the story, ‘What the ladybird heard.’ Children were able to recap the story, and they even acted out as the animals from the book. During child-initiated play, children created their own version of a farm including their chosen animals and some children even drew their own maps from the book, just like the Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len- the two robbers who had plans to steal the prized cow from the farm but due to the clever ladybird’s quick action got caught!

As a follow up activity, Reception children took a walk around the school according to the pre-planned map for this walk. After they returned to their classrooms, they were able to recall which areas they had visited and then made their very own maps of their walk around the school. All the children were extremely excited to see our school’s beautifully blossomed cherry and the blossom trees.
All our Reception children learnt many new fun activities and had an enjoyable week.
