This week for our Dinosaur topic, we are looking at their diet and what they may have eaten when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
For this, we had some Dinosaur toys and a small sensory tray filled with leaves and vegetables so the children could link the food to the dinosaur menu. They were pretending to feed the dinosaur, building on their imaginative play. Some of the children really pushed their imagination well, attempting to put the food into the dinosaurs mouths. Others needed some encouragement and modelling from adults, but still participated well which is important.
In our Formal class, they have been using the mainstream planning to look at making wind socks for their Science lessons, linking to their topic this term ‘Wonderful Weather’. The children had to work in groups to build their wind sock from scratch, hoping that it would hold together in the wind outside when they hang them up in their outside areas.
Take a look at the pictures below to see the children working together well as a team to build their wind socks, as well as building on their imagination.
