We have been celebrating Black History Month. The children have enjoyed reading a story about Floella Benjamin and her journey from Trinidad in the Caribbean to England.
We found Trinidad on the map and listened and danced to steel drum music. Miss Smith also shared a little about her own family, her mum was born in Trinidad, just like the author, and her dad is Jamaican. She has been travelling to the Caribbean since she was born, and the children loved hearing all about it.
We also learned about Diwali, creating beautiful Rangoli patterns to celebrate the festival of light.
It’s been a wonderful week full of music, colour, and learning about different cultures and traditions.
Have a wonderful half term everyone.
