This term, Year 5 have been learning all about Harvest and why it is such an important time of year. We have been reflecting on the importance of sharing, kindness and helping others and exploring different harvest traditions from around the world.
As part of our learning, we decided to take action ourselves by organising a food collection to support people in need. The whole school joined in and together we have collected an amazing amount of food, which will be donated to a local charity called SHED. SHED do fantastic work in our community and it has been wonderful to play a part in supporting their efforts.
This week, we were delighted to welcome Vicar Faye and Becky into school. They spoke to us about how SHED helps local families and how much they value the contributions we are making. Hearing their words really inspired us and reminded us of the difference we can make when we come together.
To mark this special time, Year 5 also prepared and led a Harvest assembly, which we shared with the whole school and with parents. We performed songs, poems and reflections that highlighted the themes of gratitude, kindness and community. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both our learning and the generosity of our school community.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated food and supported us. Your kindness is really appreciated and will make a real difference to others.
