Each week, we are offering children a range of tasks and activities that they are familiar with. This helps the children learn and improve their knowledge and understanding of a particular task. This can be painting, sensory or matching tasks. These tasks are completed with children right from our Pre-formal classes, right up to our Formal class, and the children in each stage of their development enjoy these familiar tasks – the activity varies, but the concept is similar and routine-like.
As you can see from the pictures below, children can match from an early age. They can recognise the task and how to complete them, sometimes with some, little or no adult guidance or support. Other children in the pictures below are drawn to sensory activities, such as painting or messy play with different textures.
These activities can be adapted in each class, as well as at home, and we know the children engage well with them. Take a look at the pictures below at the children engaged in their learning variety, and please feel free to use these examples for activities at home.
Also, if you have any questions about sensory activities, please get in touch and we can see how we can help, or what ideas we can offer.
