For our final week, one of our classes went to ALDI in Dagenham. It was to support two areas of their learning.
The first, is to get used to walking to shops and using public transport. This was our topic last term so linked in well here. It also linked in to their World Around Me’ curriculum, which is knowing how to walk safely in the street, cross roads, and the other things needed to function in the real world.
The class has been practising this by going on local walks around school every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the past few weeks. This meant it was not a shock for the children to go out and walk to ALDI. Overall, the children did so well! They were really well behaved, and sensible when crossing the roads. As well as sitting safely on the bus. All the adults were so proud of the children.
When the children got to ALDI, an adult paired with them had to go around the shop and look for particular items for their Hungry Caterpillar. Things they needed were; cupcakes, chocolate cake, cheese, ice cream and ice cream cones.
The children went to the self service stations and bought the items, with some adult support, and once everything was collected, we returned to school.
Take a look at the pictures below to see the class on their trip.
Next week is half term, and the school is back open on Monday 2nd June. We wish you all a happy and well rested half term. We will see you on the 2nd!
