This term we have been studying the fascinating Solar System and looking at length at the planets, the people and animals that have visited them.  We discovered interesting facts such as Albert the monkey who was sent into space in 1949, Dennis Tito who was the first space tourist in 2001 and Tim Peake who visited the International Space Station in 2015.

We became astronauts and completed our training and designed our own planets, some of which had orange trees and chocolate houses, lovely!  We made planets from Papier-mâché and painted them in the amazing colours of the real ones.  We looked at the different sizes of the planets and Earth is not the biggest planet, Jupiter is and 1,300 Earths would fit inside it.

The children had great fun learning the order of the planets from the sun by using the acronym, M, VEM, J, SUN.
