This week in the EAL room we have been learning how to use time connectives, we thought it would be fun to combine our learning with a cooking activity.  When baking cakes, you need to follow a precise set of instructions if you want your cakes to be tasty.

The children had to make fairy cakes by carefully following the recipe’s instructions  whilst organically learning different time connectives.  The instructions were littered with many examples, such as ‘first’, ‘next’, ‘after’ and many more.

                                                   Mixing fun!

Pouring the mixture into the fairy cake cases

Now the cakes are all finished the children’s next task will be to recreate the instructions for making a fairy cake using all the time connective words they have learnt.  Stay tuned to find out how they do!
