For our book we have just finished reading, ‘Meg on the Moon’, the characters in the book travel to space and at one stage, they are looking out of the spaceship window and straight at Earth.

We thought it would be really nice and very creative for the children to design a 3D model of the Earth using balloons, paper mache and paint. For each class, the children had to cover the balloon with newspaper and glue, then wait for it to dry.

Once dry, painting the Earth using green and blue colours was next. Both parts of the activity was super messy and sticky, but the children really got stuck in and hands on. They were so engaged with both designing and decorating the Earth, and a number of teachers explained how the children wanted to continue, even though the activity was finished.

Here are some pictures of some of the children across many of our classes decorating the Earth in their English lessons.
