Chinese New Year is the Chinese festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. The festival is usually referred to as the Spring Festival in mainland China, and is one of several Lunar New Years in Asia. This week was the beginning of the New Year; The Year of the Pig. The children participated in different activities which included making lanterns, drums, dragons and masks, and learning about Chinese customs. The children enjoyed exploring sensory activities in the outside area which included cooked noodles, rice and mark making in the sand with the Chinese visuals.
