This week at Monteagle we have been celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week 2023. The theme this year is ‘Let’s Connect’ and it is all about making meaningful connections for all because when we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of wellbeing. And when our need for rewarding social connections is not met, we can sometimes feel isolated and lonely – which can have a negative impact on our mental health.

The children have taken part in a range of activities, which you can see below:

5G learnt the Jerusalema dance.

Year 1 linked their work to online safety (as Tuesday was also Safer Internet Day) and made a class worry box so they had a space to share their worries.

Reception watched the story invisible strings and drew pictures of all the people the felt connected to and could go to for feeling safe, comfort and reassurance.

Year 3 wrote sentences in each balloon about what makes them an amazing and unique person.

Year 6 drew on strips of paper how they are connected to people in their lives and the thinks they do and make them feel connected; these were all then joined together as symbolism of everyone being connected!

Today (Friday 10th February) has been ‘Dress to Express Day’ and children have dressed up in clothes that express who they are!

Even the staff got involved too!

The children even for a special performance from the staff choir this afternoon too!

Have a great half term and we will see you on Tuesday 21st February (on Monday 20th February, school is closed to pupils as it’s a staff INSET day).
