Year 4 have been learning the difference between improvising and composing. They began by composing an instrumental to accompany a country piece of music. They could choose to include either 3, 5 or 7 notes in their compositions. Once they were happy with their improvisations, they turned them into a composition by creating a graphic score. A graphic score is an exciting and creative way to write a musical composition. It
involves using shapes, squiggles, letters, pictures and in fact, anything you would like to include that represents the music you are creating! We hope you enjoy listening and watching us perform our compositions below.

We also started learning a song all about the life of Dr Martin Luther King. This song is in a Contemporary R&B style and is about the life and activism of Dr Martin Luther King Jr who helped to inspire many people around the world to stand up for their own rights and the rights of others. He brought people from all different backgrounds together and was an incredibly inspirational person.

This week, we will continue to learn the second verse of this song and hope to perform the song as a class and year group at the start of next term!
