Week 2 – Scuttle Bugs

Our second week was filled with LITTLE CRITTERS

Today we focused on engineering scuttle bugs, allowing them to creep all over the class room tables – testing who could make their bugĀ  design perfect: allowing the stored potential energy to transfer into movement. The session went by very quickly, yet everyone managed to finish their bugs and we had some really successful and efficient models by the end.

This session was just as exciting as the rocket one and the children all seemed to enjoy themselves again. Along with all the fun, we considered the STEM principles of ENERGY , MOVEMENT & SYMMETRY. I hope the children showed off their designs to you all at home and even tried to explain scientifically how it worked!

See you all next Friday!
