This week the whole school celebrated Maths Week and the theme ‘Three is the Magic Number’. Year 5 explored this theme by making Tetrahedrons. Tetrahedrons are formed solely from triangles. The 3 triangular sides slant upwards to form the triangular base. As it is formed from four triangles it is also known as a triangular-based pyramid. To support this lesson we explored 2D triangles and discussed their properties, for example, angles in a triangle always add up to 180 degrees. We also learned the difference between equilateral, isosceles, right angle and scalene triangles.
