This week, children in year 3 have been using their previous art history knowledge about cave drawings and paintings to create their own.

First, the children were given a piece of black card and only given a certain pallet of colours (brown, black, red, white and yellow) as these would’ve been the only colours available to the people of the Stone Age.

Next, they had to  trace their hands (some children supported each other in this) and they had to use the same colour to create an outline. After that, they chose another colour to fill in the hand.

The children continued to repeat this pattern, and some of them even overlapped their images.
