It was lovely to invite parents to our reading lesson this week. As a class, we looked at different types of comprehension questions and the skills needed to answer them. In particular, we focused on inference questions because forming accurate inferences is an incredibly important reading skill in year six. Without inference, we would treat what we hear or read in a very literal sense. Inferring is to read between the lines and make assumptions based on smaller details. Drawing inferences is also essential for understanding the world around us. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to understand much at all.
It was wonderful to have so many parents participate in the reading session. We thank you for taking the time out of your day and feel very fortunate to be able to invite parents back into our classrooms.
