Another productive and creative week for the children of Monteagle.

Year 5 had the exciting experience of using potentially dangerous equipment, which they used with incredible focus and maturity. They have started a new topic, where they investigated moving toys that contain cam mechanisms. For more information on this, copy and paste the link:

This topic will require the children to create a wooden frame by measuring, sawing and nailing wooden doweling together. This week, they practiced sawing wood, using a bench hook as a guide to get a perfect perpendicular angle.

Year 1 put their practice of sewing into action, by making their very own glove puppets. They applied their skills and knowledge of threading needles and running stitch technique to follow their plans, as well as make modifications based upon their own assessment of how things were going and also discovering that I had brought coloured feathers along, that I hadn’t previously mentioned.
