This week, Year 3 learnt a new song called, ‘Why does music make a difference?’ On just listening to this song, the children recognised it was a jazz piece of music from the instruments (saxophone and trumpet) being played as well as the rhythm of the song.

They learnt an instrumental on it too, which was quite the challenge compared to previous instrumentals they have learnt. The children then played this instrumental in unison and then improvised and composed their own instrumentals in a jazzy style using five notes. Their improvisations became compositions once they completed their graphic scores. You can watch Lily-may, Amaya and Jake perform their compositions below.
