This week in reception, we continued reading the story ‘What the ladybird heard’. Children were able to recap the story and they even acted out as the animals from the book. During child-initiated play, children created their own version of a farm including  their chosen animals and some children even drew their own map from the book, just like the characters did: Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len.

Areas that were covered:

EAD-
Children can talk about the features of their own and others work, recognising the differences between them and the strength of others.

Literacy –
Children can describe the main events in stories that they have read.

Communication and Language-
Children can listen to stories and can express views about events or characters in the story and answer questions about why things happened.

Take a look at some of the children’s work.
