Dear Parents and Carers,

A warm welcome back to school to all parents old and new! We have kicked off the year in style and the staff and pupils have come back with boundless energy and enthusiasm.

This month has been wonderful, the weather has been great and we’ve been making the most of it especially in our  Early Years classes, the  ARP  and Year 1. They have all been making use of our outdoor spaces at every opportunity for learning and exploring. Year 3, 5 and the ARP have already started their swimming lessons and Yr 4 are learning the Trumpet already! It’s safe to say it’s been busy. Lots of year groups have already had their first parent workshops with the remaining year groups to come over the next couple of weeks. If you can, please do try and come along! We have also already had a Victorian workshop in school for year 2 and both Years 4,5 and 6 are off out on educational visits over the coming weeks.

As you can probably tell from the tone of letter, our school is alive with energy and we have all been working hard. This year, we are focusing on ensuring that the culture of Monteagle is at the forefront of what we do, and how we use our culture and values to help us to achieve the school vision for, ‘every child to achieve their best.’ To do this, we have to have a shared set of values and expectations that all adults and children follow, everyday. During our professional development training at the beginning of the month, we re-evaluated our school values and decided that we needed to make some changes to the 5 values we currently have which have been in place for many years. Moving forward, we will have 3 clear values which I have outlined below.

Vision:

‘At Monteagle, we believe that a truly outstanding school is one that enables all children to achieve their best.’

Working Hard

We never give up. We remain positive so that we have the strength to persevere even when things get tough. We do what it takes for as long as it takes.

Trust

We are honest. We do what we say we’ll do and do not make excuses. We are loyal and have the courage to do the right thing.

Respect

We respect ourselves, each other and our surroundings. We support and champion our similarities and our differences. We embrace each other with kindness and friendship. We play by the rules. We are polite and have manners at all times. We don’t take advantage of others and know that helping a member of our team is helping ourselves.

In other news!

Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers to help us out in school and with school trips and visits.

We also run TA training at school through Barking and Dagenham college. This course has led to more than 50 parents gaining a level 2 or level 3 NVQ.

Please get in touch with Nicky if you want any more information! Our school is open to everyone!

Uniform and Lost Property

We always have so much lost property! Please make sure that if your child has lost something that you check in at the office at the end of the day or the following morning as it will probably be there. That being said, it is so important that you label every item of clothing with your child’s full name and class. We have over 600 children in school and every single one has a red jumper and white shirt! Unnamed items are really difficult to return to their owners so please help us out by naming everything!  Please make sure that your child comes into school each day with the correct uniform on. We do check uniforms regularly.

Rainbows After School

Rainbows, our after school club runs from 3.30pm until 5.45pm everyday. It is a great service and is run by our own staff who are all familiar with the children.

The sessions are outlined below along with the daily charge.

Half session until 4.30pm- £6

Full session until 5.45pm with a light meal – £12

You are able to pre-book these sessions using your Parent Mail app. If you have any issues, please contact the office and they will be able to help.

Parent Choir

I am pleased to announce that our parent choir has returned! Ms Jenkin will be leading this parent group between 8.00 and 8.30 each Thursday in the music room. If you are interested in coming along, please give it a go! It is a great opportunity to meet other parents in a fun, safe space and do something enjoyable! We are hoping for lots of parent choir members so that we can start to showcase you all at school events!
