The weather has improved and finally we are seeing warmer days. Nursery have taken advantage of this and had fun playing outdoors with water this week! Water play is very important for children’s development. It improves both their gross and motor skills through lifting, pouring, carrying, splashing and actions such as squeezing!
Children enjoyed pouring water through pipes and watching it slide down into containers. We also added food colouring to the water and children were fascinated by seeing the colour of the water change. They explored filling up and emptying containers. Children also explored making bubbles and described the water by using adjectives; warm, cold, wet, slippery, full, empty and half full.
