Lots more lovely art and DT this week:

Year 3 took a dive into metal sculpture this week, practicing various techniques before applying them to create fish of different shapes and sizes.

Year 2 continued their journey into paper sculpting this week applying some of the techniques they had practiced last week as well as developing their understanding of pattern, contrast and composition. They also had an opportunity to explore some properties of oil pastels, discovering ways in which they were good at blending (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_pastel)

Year 4 finally completed their fully working torches, complete with switches, designed and made for a purpose. It was great to see how the children were able to use their knowledge of materials to combine them together in completely independently considered methods, whilst considering the aesthetics and able to recognise when plans weren’t working and make adaptations.

Year 1 studied the artist Clarice Cliff, noting how she used blocks of colour, shape and layering of contrasting colours to create her works. The children practiced the skills on paper, before applying them onto their own plates.
