This week in Reception we have been learning all about Remembrance Day. We talked about why we wear poppies and take part in the two minutes silence at 11 o’clock on the 11th day of the eleventh month.

The children learnt to match initial sounds to pictures relating to Remembrance Day and practised writing them in trays of flour. They also made poppy wreaths and giant poppies to be displayed on our topic boards.

We also learnt about different coloured poppies and how some people wear a purple poppy to remember all the animals from war.

The children have enjoyed making their poppies and learning about the importance of wearing them.
